Perhaps the organisers have not read the report recently released? The environmental assessment declares carcinogens remain and that environmental monitoring is required due to the likelihood of heavy metal contamination. See section 2.1.1.6.2 Contamination of the Local Environment at http://www.hmasadelaide.com/__data/assets/pdf_file/0018/121419/App_D_Flora_and_Fauna.pdf
On the website comment: ‘A project website with information about the scuttling was established two years ago.’ - not according to Tony Kelly as recorded in Hansard. The website only came into existence in November 2009, and it’s been content free until recently. See http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/Prod/parlment/hanstrans.nsf/V3ByKey/LC20091112 under HMAS ADELAIDE ARTIFICIAL REEF PROJECT.
There is a Dept of Lands website to manage the tender process for the project, and it’s also free of environmental impact content or details relevant to the health concerns raised by residents. It is at http://www.lands.nsw.gov.au/crown_land/major_initiatives2/hmas_adelaide_project/ and is irrelevant to the concerns raised.
There is a lobby group website at http://www.ccarp.net/committee.htm.
